The former Barcelona and Manchester United defender announced his sudden retirement back in November 2022 - playing one match before walking away from the sport.
But the 36-year-old has teased a return to football, revealing that he will be looking to take up a new role within the game.
In a message on social media, he wrote: 'It's a new year and after thinking carefully I have decided to return to football.
'I miss it a lot. This time it won't be as a player. It will be as a coach. I'll share more details at the end of the week.'
Pique enjoyed 14 glittering years with Barcelona after rejoining the club from Manchester United in 2008.
He won 30 pieces of silverware for the Catalan giants, including nine LaLiga titles and three Champions League trophies.
He also won both the World Cup (2010) and European Championship (2012) with his country.
Since his retirement he has set up the seven-a-side Kings League in Barcelona - where he could also look to take up a coaching role.
Pique's retirement from the sport came just five months after he split up with singer Shakira and now has a new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.
In his final address to the Nou Camp faithful in his final game against Almeria, he vowed to one day return to Barcelona.
He said: 'In life, when you get older, you realize that sometimes to love is to let go.
'I'm convinced that I'll be here again in the future. I love Barca. That's why I consider it's the right moment to go.
'This is not a goodbye. I was born here, I'll die here.'
